I feel like whatever goals you’re trying to reach, it’s important to reflect and thank yourself for making steps towards them.
For example; I’ve currently re-started my fitness journey for about the 10th time in the past few years. Each time I’ll go a few weeks or months and then drop off and become sedentary again.
I’ve never 100% given up because eventually I’ll come back at it. This time I have been going pretty steady for almost a month now, and I feel so mentally healthy with it.
It’s nice to acknowledge the effort that you put into yourself throughout the week and I recommend taking time to do so.
This week I wanted to thank myself for getting up at 5am 4 out of the last 7 days. I have to get up that early in order to squeeze in 30-60 minutes of a workout. Do I like to get up that early? Not really. My bed typically makes a pretty strong argument about staying put, but my mind has been unusually strong about getting in that morning sweat.
Along with that, I wanted to thank myself for making (mostly) healthy choices this week. I have such a bad sweet-tooth, that I tend to indulge WAY too much. I’ll mean to only have 1 cookie, and then before I know it- they are all gone. It’s hard, but I’m working on getting a hold on it.
Another way that I like to express self-love is to gift yourself with thins that you love. I had two pretty awesome things show up this week that I’m very excited about.
The first one is a delivery from one of my favorite places: Cherry Republic. I grew up in Michigan and visited Glen Arbor every single year. A visit to the Cherry Republic was one of my favorite parts and I’m so happy that they do mail delivery now because we couldn’t make it up this year due to the wedding.
This is a treat for me and my husband because we love it so much. We have been working really hard on our home lately and so it is nice to gift ourselves with this. It will really help to keep us motivated to do more.
The second thing that we got this week is my new laptop. I have had the same broken one since 2009 and haven’t seen the value in replacing it until now.
I’ve been really thinking about my hobbies recently and decided to treat myself with this computer to further delve into my love of writing. It’s a nice treat for my mind to be able to sit down and relax while typing something out.
Self love isn’t always about appreciating your outward appearance (although that can be apart of it). To me it’s about appreciating everything about one’s self. Encouraging yourself to reach whatever goals that you want to reach. Loving who you are and focusing on growing the relationship that you have with yourself. It’s so refreshing to appreciate yourself.
Do you have any other ideas on how to love yourself a bit more?
What have you done this week that you’re proud of?
Do you ever just treat yourself with something; what do you get yourself?
